Chairman
David Edward Mills
A resident of Sunderland, David was originally from Long Eaton, Nottingham. David moved to Sunderland in order to study for his career in pharmacy. He has worked as a Lecturer in Pharmacy at Sunderland Polytechnic and after retiring continued working as a locum pharmacist throughout Co. Durham.
David's musical career started as Assistant Organist at Central Methodist Church, Long Eaton, at age 15 years. After leaving Long Eaton to study, David was organist at a number of churches in Sunderland including Clockwell Street Methodist Church, St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, Fulwell Methodist Church and since 1990 is the organist for West Park United Reformed Church.
In 1991, David took up playing the Euphonium and became a playing member of the orchestra from its formation, until 2005.
David was Chairman of the society until 2005. Following a break of several years he was re-appointed Chairman in April 2010.
